Wing Tsun Kung Fu

Wing Tsun is a system that teaches only the most efficient and effective techniques. With roots over 300 years old in the Shaolin Temples of China, Wing Tsun was devised to be learned rapidly and to make it user proficient in a short period of time. Of course, like anything good and worthwhile, it takes many hours of training to master, but basic self-defense proficiency is achieved very quickly.

Features of Wing Tsun

  • teaches you how to defend yourself in the most efficient way possible
  • is not based upon excessive physical strength, limberness or acrobatic ability
  • teaches you to develop flexible and devastating whipping force
  • enables you to punch from 5 to 10 punches per second
  • does not require hard blocking techniques
  • enables you to simultaneously hit and defend which will double your speed
  • teaches you to use the force of the attacker and turn it against him
  • enable you to blend and adapt to any type of attack

The Wing Tsun System

The Wing Tsun system consists of 3 empty hand forms called Siu Nim Tau, Chum Kiu, and Biu Tze. It also has a more advanced form that is performed on a specially designed wooden dummy. There are 2 advanced weapons forms (Long pole, and Butterfly Knives). Wing Tsun also has a training exercise called chi sau that is unique to this system. Chi sau training teaches you to develop your contact reflexes. Contact reflexes enable you to simultaneously read and react to your opponents intentions once you make contact with his limbs. It is like developing a 6th sense that enables you to strike while you simultaneously avoid getting struck.

The Siu Nim Tau form is taught first and is considered the beginner form. It teaches all the fundamentals of Wing Tsun. The second form taught is Chum Kiu. It is the intermediate form which teaches you to coordinate your hands, body and legs so that they perform as one unit. The third form called Biu Tze is the most advanced empty hand form and is only taught to advanced students who have learned the concepts and applications of the first two forms. The wooden dummy form is taught to advanced students and instructors.
